Delayed or impaired
development of speech/language skills can negatively impact leaning and
behavior in the classroom.
Speech Language Pathologists provide support services to students with delayed
speech and/or language skills that negatively affect the student’s ability to
learn, function or communicate in the classroom. Concerns in any of the following areas might suggest the presence of a
speech or language impairment
- Articulation (the way speech
sounds are produced)
hoarseness, frequently losing one’s voice, finding it difficult to speak)
(ability to access and use language in verbal or written communication –
(ability to understand spoken language – vocabulary, following directions,
aspects of language – conversation, asking questions, using communication
to self-advocate and increase the ability to express wants/needs)
you have concerns about your child’s development in any of the above, please feel
