HOMEWORK
EXPECTATIONS Homework must be completed accurately and on time. By checking your
child’s assignment notebook or daily assignment sheet, you can help monitor
daily assignments and will also become aware of upcoming tests and long term
assignments. As stated above, once an assignment is late, the best grade that
can be earned is 50%. While fifty
points are better then no points, they are still equivalent to an F. There is no excuse for late homework. If a student is having a difficult time
with a concept or assignment, he/she must seek extra assistance immediately!
Extra assistance is readily available. |

TESTS Tests are administered on a regular basis in Junior High. Typically, your child will have a math test
once a week. There will be science,
social studies, and language arts tests often as well. Please realize that your child should never say that he/she does
not have homework. Math exercises
should be practiced each night, as tests are weekly. Science packets will be
given in class and should be studied for a minimum of fifteen minutes each
evening. In language arts, there will
be spelling and vocabulary words that need to be mastered, along with other
concepts, novels and stories. In
social studies, notes from class and key concepts/people should be reviewed. The Junior High teachers are very good about letting students
know about upcoming tests – usually a week in advance. For many tests, your child will be given a
detailed study guide from the resource department. It is important that your child utilize the
guide(s) given and study what is reviewed on the guide. Accommodations will be made on tests in
accordance with your child’s IEP. In addition, all students have the option
to take tests in the resource room.
REMEMBER – AS WITH ALL STUDENTS – IF A CHILD DOES NOT STUDY, HE/SHE
WILL NOT BE SUCCESSFUL ON A TEST! |
