Welcome to our Primary Physical Education Department at Giles School!

Our objective is for each student in our school to become both mentally AND physically fit.

(A Sound Mind in a Sound Body!)  With exercise, we find that:

We Feel Better

We Look Better

We Are More Alert

We Have More Energy

We Think and Learn Better

We Have More Self-Confidence

We Feel Better About Ourselves

We Build Stronger Bones, Muscles, and Joints

Therefore, we provide your child with many opportunities to develop an active lifestyle.

Our program includes units in both locomotor and manipulative skills.  In locomotor skills, we use body movement by running, hopping, sliding, skipping leaping, jumping, and galloping.  For non-locomotor skills, we twist, turn, and bend.  These help demonstrate our movement education concepts that include space, levels, speed, force, directions, and spatial awareness.  Our manipulative skills include working with an object as a ball, a beanbag, a bat, a balloon, etc.  Those activities include:  throwing, catching, kicking, bouncing, and striking.

Exercise is the best preventive medicine there is!  We hope that physical activity – for the entire family – becomes a habit that lasts a lifetime!

Here’s to a fantastic and “physically fit” year for each of our students and their families!  Take the time to “be active and fit” together!!!
