JUNIOR HIGH PHYSICAL EDUCATION

Dear parents and students,
Welcome back to the new school year, I look forward to another successful classroom and athletic experience. The following is an outline of the grading procedures, requirements, and expectations for junior high physical education.
GRADING: based
on the following criteria
1.
Effort/Participation
(dress, attitude, sportsmanship) 50%
2.
Skills Tests (softball hitting, basketball shooting..) 20%
3. Written Tests/Assignments 30%

Unprepared Policy/Daily
Points;
All students are required to change into their uniform and have gym shoes with socks.
When dressed, participating, and displaying a positive attitude students earn four
points per day.
*Students without proper shoes, or that don’t change, will be given an
“UNPREPARED,” lose all four points, and will have an assignment to complete.
-“Rental” uniforms may be available at times, but will result in a loss of 2 points and
an UNPREPARED.
**The 4th “UNPREPARED” will result in the student’s grade being lowered one full
letter grade; such as going from a B+ to a C+.

General
Information
-Uniforms should be brought home to wash at the end of each week.
-Deodorant is needed daily and considered part of being prepared for p.e.
-Students are responsible for their own possessions! Therefore, valuables shouldn’t be
brought into the locker room.
-A student may be excused from p.e. for up to 3 days with a parent’s note about an
injury. Any further inactivity will need a doctor’s note to be excused.
-Individuals must act respectfully and accordingly in the gym, locker rooms and halls.
*Units that will be covered throughout the school year may include (but aren’t limited to) softball, flag football, soccer, fitness, team handball, yoga, basketball, floor hockey, badminton, volleyball, soccer, dance, team building, and track & field.
