Social Studies-Other things to know

  1. Being prepared for class each day will count 20 points toward your quarter grade.  This means having your textbook (covered), a pen or pencil, and paper.  You should also have a copy of the current test or quiz.  Each student will get one free chance to borrow one of these things from me per year.  After that, you will either lose 10 points or need to do extra writing.  Ask at the beginning of class.  If I have to remind you, it will cost you double.
  2. If you turn in an assignment with no name it will be put up on the no-name line.  If you claim it off the line and turn it in it will be counted as any other late assignment and get a maximum of half-credit.
  3. If you are absent and need to turn in an assignment after the due date, make sure that you write “absent” on it by your name or it will be counted late.
  4. It is your responsibility to keep track of how many homework passes you have.  If you want to check, you need to do so after school.  If you have used your last one, I will circle the check (your grade) at the top of the page when it is handed back to you.

Class Conduct

Your behavior as a class will also be monitored and affect your situation in this class.  By “affect your situation” I do not mean your grade.  Your grade will never be based even a tiny bit on anyone else.  Class behavior will primarily affect your ability to move around and work in small groups for in class assignments or studying.  There will not be any extra restrictions put on movement if your class does not get either 3 class warnings in a day or 5 class warnings in a week.  The first time this happens you will get one work day with no movement.  The second time will be two days, etc.  Your class will get a warning for every instance where I have to waste class time by reminding you to be quiet.

-Any class that goes a whole week without even one class warning will get an extra roll of the die for a homework pass.

-Individual warnings for disruptions will be given if it is just one person causing problems.
