Response to Intervention

(RtI)

Response to Intervention (RtI) is the process of systematically assessing student progress, determining needs, and designing appropriate interventions to meet student needs. This process helps eliminate the ‘wait to fail’ approach and may eventually lead to an eligibility determination for special education should a student repeatedly continue not to respond to scientifically research based intervention programs.

Struggling Students:

-         If a student is placed into an RtI group, a letter will go home notifying the parents

-         If a student continues to struggle, grade level teams will meet with reading specialist and special education teachers to develop new intervention

-         As a student continues to struggle, a Problem Solving Meeting will be organized with parents and teachers to develop a new plan to help students
