The ability to write and use equations to solve concrete and theoretical problems.

Familiarity and general understanding of coordinate graphing and linear functions.

Homework:

Homework is usually assigned every day and is due the next day during class. Late or incomplete assignments may be turned in for reduced credit.  Late assignments must be made up within one week (unless other arrangements are made).   Students are expected to begin in class so I can monitor their progress and answer questions.  It is possible that your child may complete the assignment during class.  However, it is always a good idea for assignments to be brought home for you to check.

Grading:

Collected workbook pages and worksheets will be averaged and count as one test grade.

All homework assignments in the Math notebook will be corrected in class.  A grade will be issued for at least once a Marking period and count as one test grade.  A Grade for the Notebook itself, based on organization and completeness will also be issued and counted as one test grade.

All test and quiz grades + homework average + notebook grades will be averaged together.

All tests and quizzes can be corrected for an additional grade.  These tests must be signed by parent (if below 70%) and returned within 2 days of the day I return tests to the student.  All corrections must include proper work or explanations in order to be considered for an additional grade.  No Credit will be given for answers only!

Test corrections will not be accepted late or from students who do not complete regular homework assignments.

Class participation and extra credit will be added last.

Extra credit should be problems dealing with current concepts and will not be given to students who do not complete regular assignments.

Supplies:

Students must have their textbook, workbook, spiral notebook, calculator, and pencils with them in class.  Loose paper stapled together will not be considered a notebook.

Tests and Homework will not be accepted if they are not written in pencil (erasable pen is not acceptable).

Helpful Hints:

Always ask your child what they have for homework, not if they have homework.

It is a good idea to check assignments when they are finished.  Ask your child to correct wrong answers before assignments are turned in.

Review tests after they have been returned.  Students must show work proving that the new answer is correct but you can help them.

Ask you child to explain the assignment to you: if they can teach you how to do it, they know it.
