Physical Education Expectations

 

The Physical Education program at Giles School is one phase of the total educational program which enables students to develop physically, mentally, socially and emotionally to their maximum capacity according to their individual abilities.  Through class participation, students will have the opportunity to learn more about themselves as they develop their skills also learn the fundamentals and rules of various sports and activities.  We will work with them to build their self-esteem and self-confidence while also having them understand:

 

Democracy: To have the power to make choices and decisions.

Sportsmanship: To play fair, get along with others and enjoy the activity.

Self-Worth: To develop mentally, physically and emotionally.

 

Grading Policy:

 

·        Participation, Attitude, Effort, Preparedness                  =          50%

·        Skill Testing                                                                  =          20%

·        Tests/Quizzes                                                               =          30%

Consequences:

 

If the student does not participate, has a bad or negative attitude, does not put effort into activity, and simply does not come dress for class the following consequences will occur:

 

·        1st Time – Copy the study sheet

·        2nd Time – Write a pick –a-sport

·        3rd Time – Parent contacted

·        4th Time – Dropped a letter grade
