Our technology scope and sequence is made up of 13 sections. Not all sections are covered at every grade level.

General Technology Awareness is section 1 of 13.

General Technology Awareness is a section included in grades K-8.
The number of checklist items at each grade level:

What type of items are covered in General Technology Awareness?
Students learn the parts of the computer (monitor, keyboard, mouse).
Students show that they know how to treat computer equipment and disks with respect.
Starting up the computer, restarting the computer, and shutting down the computer properly is covered.
Students demonstrate ability to click, double click, click and drag.
Students identify folders, mouse cursor, and other on screen elements.
Students can close files, copy files, rename files.

Software:
No specific software is required for this section. Windows (the software that runs the computer) is all that is needed for these lessons. Any version of Windows is fine.

Checklists can be found online at

If you find a checklist item that you are unsure of what the intended goal is you can refer to a sample TechWorks lesson for clarification, refer to the TechWorks teacher's guide, or let me know and I'll try to help find the answer or help clarify. Items like "the student can demonstrate appropriate behavior at the computer" or "the student can explain the basics of how a computer operates" seem vague but the teacher's guide does give specific items to think about when teaching these checklist items.

What about removing items or adding items to the checklists? Please make note of any items that you believe should be removed or added to the checklist. Approved changes will show up in the online checklsts before the start of the next school year.

Thank you,
Mr. Jobe
